It's been a busy few weeks at Motive. Like everyone else, we have had to adapt to working from home and to the new reality of video conferencing and screen sharing.
We have celebrated the ten year anniversary of our other PR Director Sarah Samways joining the agency - with virtual drinks online. (Click here to read more).
During the lockdown we decided it would be nice to shout about the not for profit and pro-bono work that clients, friends and others in our network have been doing at this difficult time. It was great to be able to shine a light on work such as My1stYears donation of 320,000 meals to families in need - read more here.
The current news agenda is dominated by coronavirus and this has meant that we have had to adapt our pitching approach but we have scored some terrific successes in terms of coverage over these past few weeks. To give one example musclefood has enjoyed 567 items of media coverage and 556 backlinks since 1 April (I am writing this on the 24th).
Perhaps surprisingly it's also been a busy time for new business with several enquiries, leads and pitches over the past few weeks. Since the lockdown began we have welcomed three new clients: subscription plant box service Lazy Flora, weight management product Zotrim, and online garden centre Gardening Express.
Our focus on e-commerce and online brands has helped protect us against the worst effects of the economic shock which has come with the lockdown. That doesn't mean we are immune - we have had projects go on hold - but we are fortunate in having a hardcore group of clients who trade primarily online and who are continuing to do good business through this time. In fact some of our clients have reported huge increases in their sales as consumers shop from home via their laptops and devices.
Our whole team has dealt with the events of the past few weeks with a positive approach and everyone has worked hard and remained focused and dedicated while working remotely and that's been evidenced by the very high level of results the clients have continued to enjoy. Speaking personally, I am looking forward to this extraordinary period coming to a close and to returning to the office to work. But until that happens we shall continue to make the best of things and to focus on achieving great results for our clients.
